Color Light Motion

Barnard Environmental Magnet School

New Haven, CT

2006-2012

GENEROUS SUPPORT from the Jamie H. Hulley Arts Foundation and the Corinne Levin Educational Foundation

This project explores the meaning of motion to the understanding and mixing of color, a metaphor for our diverse neighborhoods. The sum of the mix is so much more interesting than the individual colors.

The work is by Barnard 4th graders exploring the theory of color mixing. When their designs are placed on moving fans the colors mix into new tones. six house fans are placed in the foyer of the Barnard Environmental Magnet School lobby on a timer which is partially powered by the solar panels on the school.
