The Great Alone
Wulke has photographed a schoolhouse on the MacFarland White Ranch in Two Dot, Montana from 1981-2004 chronicling its degenerative return to the earth. The black and white photographs reveal the diaphanous complexity of the sunlight as it penetrates the structure revealing it to be animistic. Wulke considers this building an animistic ancestor revealing the spirits of those who built and inhabited the structure.
