A sculptural gear is activated by solar power and the propeller is activated by wind. The deconstructed Flyer 2 creates a welcoming entry for the Aviation Repair School at Brainard Airport, Hartford, CT.
The work for the Connecticut Aero Tech School reflects (literally and figuratively) the activities that take place at the school. Wild Blue Yonder is a reference to a deconstructed Wright Brothers Flyer 2 plane. Conducted with the Art in Public Spaces program for Connecticut as a Percent for Art project for the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism.
